If you looked past the glitzy gowns and shining sapphires, you might have noticed, as I did, the timeless elegance of Susan Sarandon, who had donned with pride a Fred Leighton exclusive long pearl necklace.The oscar-winning actress was clearly head over heels for her designer necklace and it sounded like Leighton will have a job on his hands getting her to let go of the piece.  I’m not surprised – it was a combination of the iconic sophistication of pearls with a modern, funky twist. You might say that the fact that Sarandon, still stunning at 62, was the only A-list celebrity at the Globes to be wearing pearls, means that we’re going back to the days of pearls being the jewels of choice for the “older” woman?Quite the opposite! Pearl jewellery has a timeless elegance and charm if you know how to wear it. The secret to true pearl chic is to go that extra mile and find something unique!
